Pass the Aspirin Plus is the online edition of the popular ABA Banking Journal feature, “Pass the Aspirin.” It is where community bankers help other community bankers, hence the name. Pass the Aspirin Plus continues the tradition, but also will deliver additional helpful material from time to time.

Steve Cocheo is executive editor of ABA Banking Journal and editor of ABA Bank Directors Briefing newsletter. He originated the concept of “Pass the Aspirin” and coordinates the column every month. He also runs the website www.bdbonline.biz, which is devoted to bank corporate governance issues. He has served with the magazine for more than 27 years and covered most areas of banking in that time.

Today he specializes in community banking, compliance, government relations, agricultural banking, risk and fraud issues, and corporate governance.

Cocheo is the editor in charge of the Journal's ABA/ABA Banking Journal Community Bank Competitiveness Survey and in charge of its Compliance Watch 2003 regulatory survey project, co-sponsored by Bankers Systems, Inc.

Cocheo has received several magazine writing awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors and was a 2004 runner-up for the American Business Media Jesse Neal Award for feature writing, the business press equivalent of the Pulitzer Prizes. He is the author of the most recent edition of ABA's Focus on the Bank Director and of ABA's Starting Out Right with Advisory Boards. He runs the ABA Community Bankers Council/ABA Bank Directors Briefing telephone seminars. For more information on those, please see www.aba.com

He speaks frequently to banking and business journalism audiences and can be reached at scocheo@sbpub.com or at 212-620-7219. Cocheo is the only banking journalist to have sat in on three federal banking examinations.
